Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson was arrested for domestic violence early Monday morning.
According to TMZ, authorities said that Johnson was involved in a fight with his ex-girlfriend and things allegedly got physical. Sources told the website that the alteration ended with the 41-year-old allegedly smashing his girlfriend’s phone and cutting her hand in the process.
KNX 1070 reported that Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the ex-player’s Calabasas home after midnight for the incident and arrested him.
“When deputies arrived, it was determined that the resident and his ex-girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute,” said Sgt. Carmen Arballo.
Johnson was released on $20,000 bail.
The former wide out played in the NFL for 11 seasons spending time with the New York Jets, the Dallas Cowboys, the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he won a Super Bowl. He retired in 2006 and has been an analyst for ESPN since 2007.
The network said it is aware of the incident and looking into it.
