Disney has already crossed the $1 billion mark in overseas revenue thanks in part to the success of Frozen and Captain America: Winter Solider. This weekend put Disney over the $1 billion mark and they are first studio to do so in such a short amount of time.

Variety reported that the sequel to Captain America has grossed
$586 million and more globally. Out of that total $385.1 million comes from overseas markets.

Frozen has been a success for Disney all across the world. The family friendly animated film opened strong overseas and has already made $729.3 million in total in international markets.

This has earned another record for Frozen, it is now the largest international grossing animated feature film of all time, Deadline added.

Disney has not had success with other films recently over in international markets, for example, The Muppets sequel only made about $20 million and could not gain a foothold with audiences.

This year is far from over for Disney, who has a few large films set to open overseas including Million Dollar Arm, Maleficent and Guardians of the Galaxy.
