FX announced on Wednesday that the critically acclaimed Cold War era series The Americans has earned a third season. The show stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys.

The show is currently six episodes into its second season, notes Entertainment Weekly. Its first season won the Television Critics Association Award for Outstanding New Program and earned Emmy nominations for Margo Martindale's guest performance and for its main title music. The american Film Institute named it one of the 10 best programs of 2014.

The Americans continues be one of the best shows on television,” FX original programming president Eric Schrier said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter. He also praised executive producers Joe Weisberg, Joel Fields and Graham Yost and the cast, adding, “Fans will be blown away by the rest of this season, and we can't wait to see what they come up with next year.”

Despite the critical acclaim, The Americans hasn’t been a success at drawing viewers. Its season two premiere drew 1.9 million viewers in February. The season finale is set for MAy 21.

The Americans’ third season will feature 13 episodes.
