Hayden Panettiere not asked to join cast of 'Heroes' reboot, calls it a 'dagger in the heart'

Hayden Panettiere, who starred on Heroes from 2006-2010, has not been asked to join the cast of the 2015 reboot Heroes: Reborn.

The actress opened up about it in an interview with Cosmoplitan, saying she found out about it through a text message from her cousin.

“Well, it was a shock to me,” she said. “We had nothing, nothing to do with it; it will definitely be interesting to see how they reinvent that.”
Panettiere, who played the cheerleader Claire on the show, called it an “interesting feeling” because she feels territorial over the show. She also said she hopes they have new characters and don’t have new actors playing the already established characters.

“That was our show, our home, our family,” she said she thought to herself. She added, it’s “something that we had a major part in creating as well, and, I mean, I hope that they don’t have somebody else playing our characters, that would be a little dagger in the heart.”

Fox News notes Panettiere has found a new home, playing Juliette on Nashville opposite Connie Britton.
