Season four of the acclaimed Showtime hit Homeland will be filmed and produced mostly in South Africa this summer, the network and producer Fox 21 announced today.

Cape Town, South Africa will double for the Middle East during the season, which kicks off with Carrie Mathison getting a dangerous assignment there. She’s back on the front-lines of the fight against terrorism.

The Homeland production was based in Charlotte for its first three seasons, but showrunner Alex Gansa said that they knew production would have to head overseas for the new season. Production will start in June and wrap up in November.

“We are thrilled to have found a new home in Cape Town and look forward to getting season four production off the ground,” Gansa said in a statement.

Homeland stars Claire Danes as Carrie, a role that has earned her Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe awards. The third season ended with Carrie now pregnant with Brody’s (Damian Lewis) baby. Mandy Patinkin stars as her mentor, Saul Berenson. Rupert Friend and Nazanin Boniadi co-star.

The show’s first season won the 2012 Emmy for Outstanding Drama, but has divided fans since then. Still, it has averaged 7 million viewers a week and is Showtime’s top series.
