British actor Idris Elba has welcomed a son with his girlfriend Naiyana Garth on Thursday. He announced the birth via Twitter on Friday.

He posted a photo of his newborn clutching on to his finger, writing, “My Son Winston Elba was born yesterday..Truly Amazing :-)”

People reports baby Winston is the 41-year-old Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom actor’s second child. He also has an 11-year-old daughter, Isan, with his ex-wife Dormowa Sherma.

The Golden Globe winner and Garth, a make-up artist, have been together since last year.

Elba, who currently stars on The Wire, made People’s Sexiest Man Alive list last year.

According to Us Weekly, the couple confirmed in November that they were expecting their first child together and Garth showed off her baby bump for the first time that same month at the Bazaar Women of the Year awards in London.

In 2010, Elba told GQ that he thought he fathered a son but a DNA test revealed it wasn’t his. “To be given that and then have it taken away so harshly was like taking a full-on punch in the face: POW,” he said at the time, saying he became suspicious when the child looked nothing like him.
