The online hit Grumpy Cat, real name Tardar Sauce, took a special trip around New York this week for his second birthday celebration.
Fashionista reports that the sorrow faced feline took Instagram photos with Vogue creative director Grace Coddington during a visit on Thursday. Several photos were taken in the Vogue offices, including one with Tardar in front of a wall of pictorials.
According to a spokesman, “The Vogue team met Grumpy Cat in Austin at SXSW and Grumpy Cat made such an impression on them that we decided to invite her to Vogue in honor of her second birthday, which is tomorrow.”
The Associated Press notes Grumpy’s claim to fame began in 2012n after photos of her were uploaded to Reddit, and later reaffirmed for authenticity through Youtube videos, gaining over 1.5 million views in one night. Managers Bryan and Tabatha Bundesen have launched the cantankerous cat’s career into stardom with various endorsements and licensing deals.
Bryan told the press, “It has changed our lives. It’s been a blessing. We’re very thankful for it.”
Despite suffering from feline dwarfism, Tardar has created an avid fan base for herself. A movie featuring Grumpy is currently in development.
