Jeff Van Gundy feels that Steve Kerr would make a good head coach for the New York Knicks.

The New York Post reports that Van Gundy thinks Kerr would be a good fit as the head coach of the New York Knicks. Van Gundy says, "I think [Kerr] has every quality you need to be an outstanding head coach." Van Gundy himself is a former coach of the Knicks, and it was reported last December that Knicks owner James Dolan wanted Van Gundy back as the head coach of the Knicks. Van Gundy left his position as the Knicks head coach early in the 2000-2001 NBA season, but Dolan has since forgiven Van Gundy for leaving so suddenly.

The Knicks are need of a new head coach after team president Phil Jackson fired Mike Woodson last week. Sports Illustrated reports how Jackson felt it was time that the Knicks moved into a different direction. Jackson states, "The coaches and players on this team had an extremely difficult 2013-14 season, and blame should not be put on one individual. But the time has come for change throughout the franchise as we start the journey to assess and build this team for next season and beyond."
