Jennifer Carpenter, who is known for her work on Dexter, is going back to television but this time in a more developmental role. Carpenter is working with producer George Stelzner to move forward with a new drama series Death Class.
The drama will be based on the recent non-fiction book The Death Class: A True Story About Life, Variety reported.
Carpenter and Stelzner have now purchased the rights to the novel, which was written by former Los Angeles Times Erika Hayaski. The novel was published back in January.
The show will focus on Norma Bowe, a Ph.D , nurse and also a teacher. She teaches a class that focuses on preparing for death at Kean University in New Jersey.
Carpenter explained that she was drawn to the pilot because of the characters involved. “Norma is such a dynamic force. Her world is rich and textured, and the results of her work are inexplicably redemptive and life-affirming," said Carpenter.
Just Jared added that Carpenter just wrapped up filming a pilot in Canada, for the upcoming show Sea of Fire.
