The first half of Mad Men’s final season begins this month and the stars of the show are already sad that the show will be ending. It made stars out of Elisabeth Moss, Jon Hamm, January Jones and others, so you can understand why.
“We've been a very tight cast and crew and family for a long time, so it's going to certainly be sad to see that end,” Hamm told E! News at PaleyFest recently. The Million Dollar Arm actor said that it really won’t sink in that the show is ending until they start filming the second half of the season.
The cast and creator Matthew Weiner caught up with The Hollywood Reporter at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood Wednesday night, where they had a red carpet premiere for first episode.
Jones, who plays Betty Draper, told THR that she hopes the cast can still get together. “I had the idea that we’re all going to have a book club when it’s done with each other on a monthly basis,” she said. “We’re going to read children’s books, like Everybody Poops.”
Moss, who has played Peggy Olson since day one on the show, told THR that it’s “bittersweet” to see the show nearing its end. “It’s a lot more bitter, like 90% bitter, 10% sweet,” she added.
Mad Men’s final season kicks off on Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m., so you can switch to it right after HBO’s Game of Thrones. AMC has decided to split the season in half, so the last part of season seven won’t air until spring 2015.
