As Gladiators wait in high anticipation for the season three final episode of the ABC hit drama, Scandal, Kerry Washington opens up about what it was like filming during her pregnancy.
The 37-year-old actress, who announced she was pregnant back in October with her football cornerback husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, exclusively told The Hollywood Reporter that filming the third season while pregnant was difficult.
“I work very physically as an actor. The biggest thing for me has been the challenge of how to be this person [Olivia Pope] with the personal transformation that’s going on for me physical and how to stay true to this character,” she said.

The actress added: “It’s been an awesome challenge for me as an actor because so much of how I access character is through my body… I’ve learned a lot about other ways to access Olivia and be her.”
The show has been very conscious of how they have been hiding the baby bump. According to E! News, some of the props used to conceal Washington’s bump include her arm coat, chairs, boxes, smart camera angles, her designer purses and even the President’s knee.
