Bryan Singer's lawyer has said that the director was not in Hawaii during the time when the alleged sexual assault occurred.
Attorney Marty Singer, no relation, said that the director was shooting X-Men in Toronto and has credit card receipts, production schedules and telephone records, according to The Associated Press.
"This was Bryan's first studio film," Singer said. "Clearly he's not going to take a break in the middle of this movie while you're shooting and prepping it to go to Hawaii."
Michael Egan, who has accused the director of sexual assault, said the alleged incidents occurred during a three month period between August and October 1999. He has also accused Singer of assaulting him in California.
Earlier today, Singer dropped out of a planned appearance at a "Creativity Conference," which was planned for May 2. The conference is part of the events that happen around the White House Correspondent's Dinner, which is held in Washington, D.C.
The event is co-sponsored by the Motion Picture Association of America, Microsoft and ABC News. Vice-President Joe Biden was also scheduled to appear during the "Creativity Conference."
A hearing for the Egan lawsuit has been set for July 21 in Hawaii.
