Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been caught on tape making racist comments while telling his girlfriend not to publicly associate with minorities.
The tape of the conversation was passed on to TMZ Sports and happened earlier on April after his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, uploaded a photo of her and Magic Johnson on her Instagram.
"It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you're associating with black people. Do you have to?" Sterling asked his girlfriend, who herself is partially African-American and Mexican.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the elderly owner asked, "Why publicize it on the Instagram and bring it to my games?"
He also asked Stiviano not to post pictures of Johnson on Instagram or bring him to games. Sterling continued in his pressing of Stiviano, "I'm just saying, in your losing f***ing Instagrams, you don't have to have yourself with, walking with black people."
Speaking with TMZ, Johnson responded to Sterling's comments saying, "It's a shame that Donald Sterling feels that way about African-Americans."
The audio of Sterling isn't surprising in the least as he has previously been sued for his racism. The U.S. government has sued him twice over allegedly not renting out apartments to minorities and former Clippers exec Elgin Baylor sued for racial discrimination. Baylor did not win that suit though.
