The Los Angeles Lakers endured their worst season in franchise history with a 27-55 record. Despite their disappointing performance, Lakers management has decided to bring back head coach Mike D'Antoni for a third season. He has received heavy criticism for his coaching.

According to CBS Sports, Pau Gasol has publicly stated that D'Antoni's system does not suit his style of play.

Kobe Bryant has also revealed that he is no fan of D'Antoni's system, but general manager Mitch Kupchak said that Bryant would not be consulted on the decision to bring back or fire D'Antoni.

The decision to not fire D'Antoni is expected to be unpopular among Lakers fans, but he is being absolved of blame for numerous injuries that befell the Lakers. He also declined the head coaching position at Marshall University, which went to his brother, Dan, according to the OC Register.

The Lakers were forced to play without Bryant and Steve Nash for 141 out of 162 games, and other players such as Nick Young, Xavier Henry and Gasol also missed an extended period of time.

The Lakers will look to return to the playoffs next season with a healthy squad.
