CBS announced on Thursday that Mandy Moore has been cast to play the lead female role in the network's comedy pilot Good Session.
Moore will star, opposite Psych alum James Roday, in the pilot as Lindsay, according to Deadline, who first reported the casting news. Her character is described as driven and business focused and not quite ready to settle down and turn her focus to having kids.
Good Session follows a couple played by Roday and Moore who find they aren't quite on the same page when it comes to having a kid. Roday plays Joel, a middle-school guidance counselor, who thought their marriage was going well until they stumble when discussing kids.
The two decide to go to a therapist, played by Tracey Ullman, and find out they have more than just a couple problems.
The series, if it gets picked up by CBS, will be a half-hour single-camera comedy. Matt Miller and John Hamburg brought the show to the network and they are on board to executive produce and write the pilot. Hamburg is set to direct as well.
