Earrings of a legendary film star don’t come cheep. A pair of rhinestone earrings that were worn by Marilyn Monroe sold for $185,000 at an auction Saturday.
Monroe wore the earrings to the premiere of the film, The Rose Tattoo, reported the Associated Press. The film had did based on a Tennessee Williams play however did not star Monroe.
The auction was held at Julien’s Beverly Hills gallery and featured Hollywood memorabilia over the Friday and Saturday auction.
The name of the buyer was not released however the buyer was a foreign collector.
20 percent of the final price was given as commission to the auctioning house.
Other popular and pricy items sold this weekend were a lighter used by Humphrey Bogart and a 1986 Pontiac Firebird owned by David Hasselhoff. The light was sold for $19, 200 however the car was sold at the much greater cost of $152, 600.
This is not the first time a remnant of Monroe’s has been sold for such a high cost. As previously reported Monroe’s X-Ray’s featuring cosmetic surgery she underwent were sold for $25,000 in November of 2013.
