Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni received positive news Friday when he was informed that he would return to his post with the Lakers for the 2014-15 season.

According to USA Today, D'Antoni has a team option for the 2015-16 season. He is pushing for the Lakers to exercise his option so that he will not enter the next season on the hot seat.

D'Antoni will make $4 million for the next season, and his fourth-year option would include another $4 million. It is unclear whether he will return after the 2014-15 season if the Lakers still choose to not pick up his option.

According to ESPN, D'Antoni has gotten frustrated over his questionable job status, believing that it is impeding his ability to successfully coach the Lakers.

D'Antoni will look to bounce back from the Lakers' worst season in franchise history, which involved a contagious injury bug that bit Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, Nick Young and other players.
