MSNBC says its host Lawrence O'Donnell was injured with his brother Michael in a taxi accident on Saturday.
O’Donnell was seen by doctors in New York. According to The Huffington Post, MSNBC said in a statement, "Lawrence will be off from MSNBC for several weeks as he recuperates. Our thoughts and support are with the O’Donnell family and we look forward to having Lawrence back on the air soon."
It is expected that O’Donnell will make a full recovery. His medical team is saying that O’Donnell’s recuperation will take several weeks. MSNBC said that Alex Wagner will be filling in for him on The Last Word on Tuesday. Ari Melber will sub in on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
O’Donnell filled in on the MSNBC show Countdown before getting his own show. He also appeared as a political analyst on The McLaughlin Group and The Al Franken Show. O'Donnell has been the host of The Last Word since 2010.
The Last Word airs Mondays through Thursdays at 10 p.m.
