For the past two seasons, hosts of the show Nev Schulman and Max Joseph have been traveling the country helping naive hopeless romantics find out if their online loves are truly who they say they are. Most of the time it is revealed that the person has been lying (cat fishing) to the other about who they are and have been using fake photos online, usually for attention or insecurities.

This season however, Schulman has stated that the stakes have changed because technologies have changed. According to reality tv world, this season will be a lot darker than previous seasons, especially because of how people are being deceived and because of this the Catfish crew have developed new investigation technologies to better find the online liars.

"This season we have family members catfishing each other, celebrities hunting down their super-fan stalkers, Instagram romance, people posing as famous music producers and scams resulting in the loss of tens of thousands of dollars. The lies, love, betrayals and surprises will not only make you think twice about online love, but will completely change the way you think about society," said Schulman.
Enstarz reports that this season will also include a severe case of cyberbullying, as one victim describes her trauma of having another female bully her online by constantly sending her nude photos.

This new season of Catfish is sure to be filled with real life drama and shockers that won't disappoint, however hopefully there will be some happy endings as well this season.
