Neil Patrick Harris wasn’t so happy when a fan shouted out to him and interrupted his performance in the Broadway show, Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
According to Page Six, a female fan in the crowd yelled out mid-performance, “I love you, Neil!”
The 40-year-old actor, without missing a beat and remaining in character, screamed back, “I am doing something up here motherf—ker!”
His reaction was met with overwhelming applause from the audience.
Harris plays a transgender rocker in the play, which is a story about a transgender woman who experiences a botched sex change and tours the U.S. after her ex-boyfriend, reports The Wall Street Journal.
In addition to his stint on Broadway, Harris recently ended his nine-year long run on the CBS sitcom, How I Met Your Mother.
“He's been America's sweetheart for so long, but he has so many chops and can do so many other things,” creator of the play, John Cameron Mitchell said. “We knew this beloved figure would allow those people who might be frightened of the show to say, 'Oh, I know this guy. If he wants to go there, I will go there with him.”
