The New Orleans Pelicans have endured bad luck with injuries to key players, including power forward Anthony Davis and shooting guard Eric Gordon.

The Pelicans are out of playoff contention in the Western Conference as they sit in 12th place with four regular season games remaining.

According to FOX Sports, Davis has gone through excruciating back spasms. This prevented him from being able to sit upright on the bench. He earned his first All Star berth this season though with 20.8 points per game, 10 rebounds and 2.8 blocks.

Davis was reluctant to be shut down, but doctors told him his surgery will require him to rest for 1-2 weeks.

Gordon has missed the last 10 games with knee tendinitis, according to SB Nation.

He has also enjoyed a solid season though, averaging 15.4 points and 3.3 assists per game. Gordon has also gone through past injuries, such as his right knee. He had to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery on it in February of 2012.
