The New York Mets improved their record to 2-3 on a walk-off grand slam by first baseman Ike Davis, and they hold a two-game winning streak. They defeated the Cincinnati Reds 6-3.
According to NY Daily News, Davis was a pinch hitter in his at-bat, and he crushed the ball to deep right field.
The Mets had taken a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run home run by outfielder Curtis Granderson. The Reds took it back in the top of the eighth inning on a two-run homer by second baseman Brandon Phillips.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Mets got things started with a walk by outfielder Juan Lagares. This was followed by a sacrifice bunt by catcher Anthony Recker, and Lagares was ruled safe after a replay by the umpires. He had initially been called out, according to ESPN.
Shortstop Ruben Tejada was then walked to load the bases, and Davis hit his home run off losing pitcher J.J. Hoover with no outs to give the Mets the win. Carlos Torres notched the win for the Mets.
