Tightrope walker Nik Wallenda is planning to go to Chicago for a high wire act that will be televised this fall on Discovery.
According to the Associated Press, Eileen O'Neill, the president of Discovery, says "We wanted to make a shift from the natural - the Grand Canyon - to an urban environment. Chicago is a place where Nik's relatives have performed before. It just provides a number of interesting challenges for him."
So far the exact location for the skywalking adventure has not yet been announced, the Discovery network is still seeking a permit. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel is supporting the special and said he was glad to hear that Wallenda “has chosen our great city with its iconic skyline as the site of his next walk.”
Nik Wallenda’s previous feats were seen on the specials, Everest Jump Live and Survival Live.
Other travel shows on the Discovery network include Edge of Alaska, and Yukon Men. Discovery has also announced a scripted series, Robert Redford’s The West. Their six hour miniseries Klondike enjoyed a good measure of success earlier this year.
