Spring break arrived on the Sony lot this Saturday, all to raise money for City Year.

Dreamworks’ Stacey Snider, NBC’s Bob Greenblatt teamed up and invited over 1,000 guests to attend the 4th annual Spring Break: Destination Education. The event raised over $1.5 million from the attendees. The funds benefited City Year, which is an organization that helps to keep kids in high school until they graduate.

Variety reported that Aloe Blacc and Octavia Spencer attended the event along with other celebrities.

Stacey Snider commented that this event was the most successful to date. “This event is huge because it closes the gap in our funding and it introduces the mission to new people … This event is a great showcase for the work that the corp members do,” said Snider.

Spencer has been keeping busy and has already announced a brand new project. Entertainment Weekly added that Octavia Spencer is also set to work with Oprah for an upcoming miniseries about race riots. The series will be titled Tulsa.
