On Wednesday, the prosecutor grilled the Blade Runner with intense questions about the night he fatally shot Reeva Steenkamp.

According to NBC News, hard-hitting prosecutor Gerrie Nel tore into Oscar Pistorius during cross-examination and demanded that he look at a gruesome photograph of the injuries Steenkamp sustained after he shot her.

The picture was so graphic in nature that many in the court actually gasped when it was shown. Judge Thokozile Masipa eventually asked the lawyer to take it down.

CNN noted that Nel then told the athlete to tell the court he killed Steenkamp, to which an emotional Pistorius admitted to, but reiterated that it was not on purpose.

"I did not intend to kill Reeva or anybody else for that matter," Pistorius replied.

The prosecution believes that the sprint runner intentionally shot his girlfriend after the two had an argument on Valentine's Day 2013. However, the former Olympian contends that he shot the model after mistaking her for an intruder.

He has plead not guilty to murder and gun charges.
