Singer Paul Simon and his wife, Edie Brickell, were both arrested this weekend for disorderly conduct at their New Canaan, Connecticut home.
The New Canaan Police Department told NBC Connecticut that Simon, 72, was arrested on “some sort of a domestic violence charge.” The department was planning on holding a press conference at 11:30 a.m. today, but cancelled it in favor of issuing a press release.
TMZ reports that Brickell, 48, was also arrested.
Police were called to their house Saturday night at 8 p.m. No further details on the incident have been released.
Simon and Brickell have been married since 1992 and have three children together. Brickell is also a singer, having performed with the New Bohemians. Their best known song is 1988’s “What I Am” and the album Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars.
Simon was one-half of the Simon & Garfunkel duo, best known for songs like “The Sound of Silence” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” He has won 12 Grammy Awards and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
