The Pittsburgh Pirates have experienced recent success after consistently being one of the worst teams in baseball. They had their first winning season since 1992 and made the playoffs. They fell in Game 5 of the National League Division Series to the St. Louis Cardinals after winning the top wild card spot with a 94-68 record.

According to CBS Sports, manager Clint Hurdle and general manager Neal Huntington each received three-year contract extensions for the Pirates' turnaround. They also options for the 2018 season in their contracts.

Hurdle has been the manager for the Pirates since 2011, and he improved seven games between his first season and second season before improving 15 games in 2013, according to NBC Sports. He also led the Colorado Rockies to their first National League pennant in franchise history in 2007.

Huntington has been general manager for the Pirates since 2007, and he inherited a team that only won 68 games before he took the helm.

The Pirates are currently 3-1 and will look to contend for a National League Central division title.
