Pro-wrestling's The Ultimate Warrior died at age 54

The Ultimate Warrior, one of the most colorful stars in pro wrestling died at age 54 on Tuesday.

According to the Associated Press, WWE said in a statement, "WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame."

The pro-wrestler collapsed while walking with his wife to their car at a hotel, according to police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark in Arizona. The cause of his death is not given at this time, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Warrior’s given name was James Hellwig. He was 6 foot, 2 inches tall and 280 pounds. Hellwig rose to fame in the late 1980s, and wrestled against Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania in 1990. The Ultimate Warrior also wrestled against Randy “Macho Man” Savage. More than 5.1 million viewers followed Warrior, who had long, blond hair and wore signature neon garb.

The Ultimate Warrior said that he lived his life “on his own terms.” He did not appear on broadcasted shows for the WWE after July 8, 1996 until last weekend.
