Sean Combs, also known as Puff Daddy, was chosen Tuesday by Howard University to speak at their 146th commencement ceremony this May.
According to XXL Magazine, Combs will speak to 1800 graduates about his achievements since attending the prestigious school some time ago. While never actually graduating from the university, interim President Wayne Fredrick justifies his choice by asserting that Puffy acquired his entrepreneurial talents while still a Howard Bison.
Fredrick released in a press statement, “We are honored to have Mr. Combs serve as our speaker. He sat in classrooms where our students sit, walked ‘The Yard,’ and like many students, his entrepreneurial spirit was sparked at Howard. We know he will inspire our class to work hard and to always strive for excellence.”
New York Daily News Reports that on top of his lucrative music career, Combs began an all-music TV channel dubbed Revolt that currently airs in 20 million homes since its induction last year. Besides speaking, Combs will also receive an honorary doctorate degree in the humanities.
Howard’s commencement will take place on May 10. Also being honored is CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, transplant surgeon Clive Callender, Pepsi Co CEO Indra Nooyi, and jazz legend Benny Golson.
