Ryan Murphy gave away some spoilers for the sixth and presumed final season of Fox’s Glee, confirming that it will take place some time after the ending of season five. He also said that it will not be centered around action in New York.
Murphy told several reporters that there is a major event in the fifth season finale, notes E! News. “I would say explosion is too harsh of a word, but something big happens and then the final season is the aftermath of that,” the co-creator explained.
During the interviews, Murphy told TV Line that the final episodes of season five are not really a preview of season six, even if the consequences of the events are still being felt.
“The final season is not New York-centric at all,” Murphy said. “It really is a lovely, fitting season that dwells on the original people on the show and what happens to them and how they give back. That really is the last season.”
Murphy was also asked about the number of episodes for next season, since there will only be 20 shows for season five. Murphy said that this was due to the delay in production because of Cory Monteith’s death. They still haven’t gotten set on the number of episodes for season six, as he said 24 “just doesn’t seem to be viable.”
Glee airs on Fox Tuesday nights. Tonight’s episode is called “Tested.”
