Soap opera star, Dane Witherspoon, has died at the age of 56.
The news was confirmed Sat. March 29 by Witherspoon’s former co-star A Martinez on Facebook, according to E! News.
"Dane passed this morning," Martinez wrote. "People who watched Santa Barbara in its earliest days will remember him as Joe Perkins, a character to which he brought a quiet grace and deep, bittersweet sense of soul.”
Martinez, who played Cruz Castillo, added: “He was a singular, standup guy, loved and admired by many. My first thought, upon meeting him in 1984: 'This is the most beautiful man I've ever seen.' That beauty went all the way to his core."
Witherspoon was also known for marrying Robin Wright, who also starred in the NBC soap as Kelly Capwell, back in 1986, according to Us Weekly. The Princess Bride actress and Witherspoon divorced two years later.
Witherspoon went on to marry Trading Places star Tracy K. Shaffer, although they separated in 2011.
Wright, 47, married Sean Penn in 1996 and they divorced 14 years later. She is currently engaged to House of Cards actor, Ben Foster, 33.
Along with starring in Santa Barbara, Witherspoon appeared in television movies and appeared on the soap opera Capitol.
