Seth Meyers is set to host the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on Aug. 25 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. NBC will broadcast the program at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Deadline reported that Meyers was just approved by the TV Academy’s Board of Governors. The board also confirmed Don Mischer as the executive producer for the show. Mischer is an Emmy veteran, having produced 11 Emmy ceremonies in the past.
Meyers isn’t new to awards shows himself, Variety noted. The SNL alum hosted the ESPY awards on ESPN in 2010 and 2011.
In addition to his SNL tenure and his recent experience as the host of Late Night, Meyers spoke at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in 2011. What’s more, according to The Wrap, Meyers has also been named one of Time’s 100 most influential people of 2014.
Because of NBC’s Sunday Night Football, this year’s ceremony will break with Emmy tradition and take place on a Monday rather than a Sunday. The last Monday ceremony in Emmy history was on May 17, 1976.
