Stephen Colbert has been busy this week appearing on other people’s shows. After stopping by The Late Show with David Letterman to chat with the man he will be replacing, Colbert appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to say goodbye to the network that got him started at late night.

Colbert announced that he’s leaving The Colbert Report, which even Stewart admitted to already knowing. Still, Colbert felt the need to come by to tell Stewart in person. The comedian said that he never got the same highlight reel send off most Daily Show correspondents get. Stewart said that was because he only moved to 11:30 on the same network.

Stewart offered to have his team make up the highlight reel, but Colbert already made his own short one. It featured clips from his days on The Daily Show, including one with Steve Carell.

Colbert was picked as Letterman’s replacement on CBS’ The Late Show earlier this month and will take over next year, after Letterman retires. He will be staying within the Viacom family though, as the media conglomerate also owns Comedy Central.
