Steven Spielberg will be directing an adaptation of the popular Roald Dahl novel The BFG. Before Spielberg works on this project, he will be teaming up with Tom Hanks for a Cold War thriller. Dreamworks is also the studio behind the upcoming Cold War Thriller that will feature Hanks.
Variety reported that this feature will tell the story of a young female who leads a friendly yet large giant and the Queen of England on a journey to stop a more dangerous giant from eating children.
Dreamworks acquired the rights to the film back in 2010.
This latest project from Spielberg will also have him teaming up with script writer, Melissa Mathison, who last worked with the direction on E.T.. Mathison will be writing the script adaptation for The BFG.
Frank Marshall will be producing the film along with Michael Siegel and John Madden as executive producers.
Indie Wire that production on the film will start in 2015 and the studio is looking at a 2016 release date.
