The Syfy network has ordered a full series of Z Nation, which will be a zombie TV show focusing on what happens after the apocalypse is already underway. The producers behind Sharknado will be working on this upcoming project for Syfy.

Variety reported that the network ordered a 13 eposide series for Z Nation.

The show will be taking place three years after the zombie apocalypse has taken place. The main characters will be a group of survivors tasked with helping other survivors make the trek from New York to California.

Z Nation will be produced by Karl Schafer who is known for his work on Eureka

Schaefer, who will be the show runner for Nation spoke about the upcoming project. "‘Z Nation’ will take viewers where no zombie has gone before,” said Schafer.

Syfy enjoyed a huge hit with the now cult classic, Sharknado, the network has already started to move forward on a sequel. USA Today added that Sharknado 2 is already under production and is likely to be released this summer. Matt Lauer and Al Roker of The Today Show will be making cameo's in the upcoming film.
