The Texas Rangers placed third baseman Adrian Beltre on the 15-day disabled list with a strained quadriceps muscle. He strained his quad on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox, and he has not played since.
According to ESPN, Beltre is eligible to return April 25 against the Seattle Mariners. Beltre was batting .286 with four runs batted in before his injury.
This is Beltre's first injury since 2011 that has forced him to be on the disabled list. He missed five weeks the last time. Although he has endured hamstring problems, he has played through it.
Right-handed relief pitcher Hector Noesi was added to the Rangers' roster to fill Beltre's spot, according to CBS Sports. Noesi will serve as the Rangers' long relief pitcher.
Kevin Kouzmanoff will fill in at third base for the Rangers as Beltre heals, and he will bat in the fifth spot behind outfielder Alex Rios and first baseman Prince Fielder.
