Lucasfilm and CBS' hit comedy The Big Bang Theory have teamed up to produce a special Star Wars Day themed episode.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, who first learned of the news, the episode will air on May 1 and is titled "The Proton Transmogrification."
The episode will tie in with Star Wars Day, which is celebrated by fans of the movie series on May 4. In the episode, the cast will celebrate the holiday with Bob Newhart reprising his character of Professor Proton who appears in Sheldon's visions.
The episode will feature a recreation of Dagobah thanks to some Industrial Light + Magic technicians. Production of the set was watched over by experts from Lucasfilm.
Co-creator Chuck Lorre said, "We were approached by the Lucasfilm people to do something to celebrate Star Wars Day, which was nice."
Showrunner Steve Molaro said the actual idea to recreate Dagobah was from the writers on Big Bang and not Lucasfilm. "This was all from us."
In March, CBS pulled a rare move and renewed the half-hour comedy for another three seasons, instead of the usual one.
The current season of Big Bang has averaged about 19.79 million viewers and new episodes easily top all other competition on Thursday nights.
