Rachel Frederickson, who got backlash for her 105-pound frame on the finale of NBC’s The Biggest Loser, has gained 20 pounds since then.
She called the backlash a “gift” because it started a wider discussion about an important issue. "It started a discussion about body image .That's huge,” she said.
Frederickson declared she’s now at her “perfect weight” in an interview with Us Weekly.
She explained of her workout and diet regimen now, "I work out an hour, six days a week. I love classes like SoulCycle. I also loosely count calories, but sometimes I might eat an Oreo. It's not the end of the world."
Frederickson, 24, also has a team of support behind her with her Biggest Loser family, which helps motivate her.
“We have monthly calls with the other contestants and the show psychologist," she said. "And our nutritionist is available 24/7. I'll call her from the farmers' market and say, 'What is this? How would I cook it?'"
Even one of the trainers on the show, Jillian Michaels, admitted at the time that she had gone too far. “Nobody had told us. Nobody had said anything to us. So yes, I was stunned. Obviously I thought she had lost too much weight,” she said at the time.
Concerned fans took to Twitter at the time and said remarks such as the show was sending a "bad message," and Frederickson's frame was "very disturbing."
