Discovery Channel has announced their new special that will feature the first wingsuit flight from the top of Mount Everest.

The show is called Everest Jump Live and will be broadcast in May on the Discovery Channel. The special will be telecast globally.

Joby Ogwyn will make the attempt. Discovery will air a two hour show featuring the sportsman as he climbs to the summit of Mount Everest and then jumps, according to the Associated Press. He will battle the difficult conditions as he takes on the world’s tallest mountain and be equipped with a special wingsuit to capture the descent of more than 10,000 vertical feet.

Broadcaster Willie Geist will host the jump, according to Deadline. Jim Cantore will serve as the special’s meteorologist. Kyle Martino and Chris Jacobs will cover the story from Everest Base Camp.

The event will be preceded by coverage of Ogwyn's training and preparation, beginning on May 5. Everest Jump Live will air on the Discovery Channel on May 11.
