The first live results took place last night for the Voice top 12.

To open the night coach Adam Levine took to the stage with his team to perform “Sledgehammer.” Following that energetic performance, the first two artists that would advance to next week show were announced. America saved Josh Kaufman from Team Usher and Kat Perkins from Team Adam.

The next artists to move forward included Kristen Merlin from Team Shakira despite her audio malefaction last night and from Team Blake, Audra McLaughlin moved forward into the top ten.

For the first time this season one of the coaches took center stage to perform. Shakira sang “Empire” from her latest chart-topping album.

Following that fiery performance, the next two artists who were safe and would advance to the top ten were announced. America saved Devlin Choice from Team Adam and Jake Worthington from Team Blake.

The performances continued on with Team Blake taking the stage with their coach Blake Shelton and the group sang “Put Some Drive In Your Country.” Following that performance the next three artists to advance were announced. Bria Kelly from Team Usher, along with Chrsitina Grimmie from Team Adam. With that announcement all three team members from Team Adam moved on to the next round of live shows. The last vocalist to advance before the instant save round was Sisaundra Lewis.

This season a new feature has been added to the live results, each vocalist that is the bottom will be able to perform a song before the instant safe via Twitter takes place. First up was T.J. Wilkins who performed “I’ll Be.” Following Wilkins was Dani Moz who chose to sing “Turning Tables” by Adele. Tess Boyer took the stage next and she sang “Dark Side” by Kelly Clarkson.

The results of the instant save conclude that Boyer would be advancing to the next round representing Team Shakira.

Next week the top ten perform for America’s votes on NBC.
