The Washington Redskins recently signed Philadelphia Eagles castoff DeSean Jackson to a three-year contract, but they didn't stop their dip into free agency there. They added quarterback depth by signing Colt McCoy.

McCoy served as the San Francisco 49ers' backup quarterback last season. He appeared in four games for the 49ers and threw one pass. He had previously started 21 games in his first two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

He is expected to be the Redskins' third-string quarterback, according to ESPN. Last season's No. 3 quarterback Rex Grossman is expected to leave the Redskins.

The door may also be open for McCoy to earn the No. 2 job since current backup Kirk Cousins is expected to remain on the trading block.

McCoy is entering his fifth NFL season as reported by The Washington Post. He was drafted in the third round in the 2010 draft by the Browns.
