New York Yankees star first baseman, Mark Teixeria, has suffered an injury and has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Early in Saturday’s game, Teixeria lunged for a ground ball and came up limp after the play. He has been diagnosed with a strained right hamstring. According to ESPN, the Yankee slugger will undergo an MRI when the team returns for their home opener on Monday.

Teixeira was visibly upset when exiting the game, slamming down his glove in anger on his way to the locker room. His frustration is due to the fact that he has missed a lot of time in the last two years due to injuries.

"I wanted to break everything in this clubhouse last night when I came in here, but I respect the Blue Jays organization more than that," he said. "I felt like I did everything this offseason and this spring to get my body in position to play all season.

According to ESPN, Teixeria only missed 16 games in his first three seasons as a Yankee, but he missed 39 games with a calf injury in 2012 missed 147 games last year after having suffering a wrist injury that required surgery.

Bleacher Report posted an update from Bryan Hoch of MLB.com indicating that Kelly Johnson will take over at first base while Teixeira is on the disabled list.
