Former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez pleaded not guilty to double-murder charges on Wednesday.
According to USA Today, the ex-tight end entered the not guilty plea for the shooting deaths of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado at a Boston nightclub in 2012.
ESPN noted that prosecutors have said that the two victims bumped into Hernandez in the club and spilled his drink. He then allegedly followed them and gunned them down in their vehicle. A third man who was in the car was injured.
These charges are the latest for Hernandez who has been held at the Dartmouth House of Correction since June 26 while he awaits trial for the murder of Odin Lloyd.
Prosecutors believe that the ex-NFL star orchestrated the 2013 killing of Lloyd, who was dating his fiancée’s sister.
The 24-year-old also plead not guilty to that murder charge.
In addition to the murder charges, he is accused in a civil lawsuit of shooting a man in the face at a Florida nightclub in February of 2013.
