Both Suburgatory and The Neighbors joined Mixology and Trophy Wife in the cancelled pile on Friday as networks continue to reveal what shows are and aren't returning in the fall.
The Neighbors cancellation is unsurprising as the show was critically reviled and though it managed to get a second season, it was moved to Fridays. Actress Toks Olagundoye took to Twitter to reveal the news to fans, writing, "I have known since last night, but was not able to share news until it was announced publicly. #TheNeighbirs (sic) has been cancelled."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show fell hard in the ratings after its move to the end of the week from Wednesdays, averaging a 0.9 in the advertiser-important 18-49 demographic, which is a 50 percent drop. Though Olagundoye might not have an ABC show anymore, she already has another show lined up in NBC's Feed Me.
Suburgatory was another show on the bubble, but has also suffered from unspectacular ratings and the most recent episode only averaged a 1.2 rating in fast returns, though DVR numbers would improve the show to about a 2.0 in the key demo.
Though four ABC shows have now been cut, the network did announce several renewals earlier on Friday, though none were surprises. Dancing With the Stars and The Middle both were first announced, followed shortly by the pick up of The Goldbergs and Modern Family.
