On the comedy front, ABC only picked up two pilots in the works and they will replace two that have been cancelled. Only one of the network’s freshman comedies from the current season will be back in the fall.

Trophy Wife, which starred Malin Akerman, will not be coming back for a second season. That news was shared on Twitter first by stars Akerman and Marcia Gay Harden. Akerman thanked all the fans who tuned in, writing, “We had a blast! Sad to see it go but happy to have lifelong family out there.”

Harden added, “Thank u 4 watching beloved fans. Parting is such sweet sorrow... @TrophyWifeABC cancelled just hours ago.”

Mixology actor Kevin Shaw also confirmed that his show, which counted Ryan Seacrest as a producer, also got canned.

However, a few comedies will be living on. Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the ‘80s comedy The Goldbergs will get a second season. Of course, Modern Family has also been renewed for a sixth season.

ABC only decided to pick up two comedy pilots. Manhattan Love Story is a single-camera sitcom about dating. Karen Gillan’s Selfie is a Pygmalion-style comedy co-starring John Cho.
