Following a whirlwind farewell week, Barbara Walters is looking forward to retirement. She filmed her last two episodes of The View on Thursday and has an appearance on Good Morning America on Friday, so her retirement will officially start on Monday.
"I'm going to lounge in bed until 3 in the afternoon," she said of her plans. "I don't know what my life is going to be when it is unscheduled! I'll have to get used to it, but it sounds like a very good idea."
ABC News reports the 84-year-old veteran journalist also shared she plans on taking a vacation to Berlin in the near future.
On Thursday, all 11 past View co-hosts congregated onstage all together for the first time to give Walters a proper send-off. Sherri Shepherd, Jenny McCarthy, Whoopi Goldberg, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones, Joy Behar, Debbie Matenopoulos, Lisa Ling, Elisabeth Hassalbeck and Rosie O’Donnell were all there to help give her a final goodbye.
Walters has said of her legacy that all she hopes for is to inspire other women to follow in her footsteps.
"I want to be remembered as having inspired other young women to go into this business and to succeed. I've said it before and I mean it: They are my legacy," she said. "I have interviews I'm extremely proud of and some of them may even be one of a kind, but the lasting impact is the women who have, I hope, followed in my footsteps."
