Cameras have started rolling on the Man of Steel sequel, which teams Superman with a new Batman played by Ben Affleck. Warner Bros. also announced the project’s official title, which makes it clear what the next movie will be after it.
The studio announced that the film will officially be titled Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. In addition, Warner Bros. said that the film will be produced at Michigan Motion Picture Studios and on location in Detroit. Other on location filming will take place overseas in Africa and the South Pacific. Some filming will also take place in parts of Michigan and Illinois.

Just last week, director Zack Snyder used Twitter to share the first image of Affleck’s Batman suit and the Batmobile. While this project is set in a different universe from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films, it is clear that the super-realistic look has influenced Snyder’s film.
Dawn of Justice is expected to lead into a Justice League movie, which Snyder has already been assigned to direct.
The cast includes Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent again, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning. Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor. Jeremy Irons was cast as Alfred Pennyworth and Holly Hunter is joining in an unknown role.
Dawn of Justice opens on May 6, 2016. David S. Goyer wrote the script.
