Fox released the first trailer for newly picked up series Gotham on Monday, a little earlier than normal.

The network usually reveals an early look at its upcoming series during their upfront presentation, which doesn't come until next week. Instead, Fox opted to provide a peak into the series during 24: Live Another Day's premiere, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The trailer, which makes liberal use of the Inception-styled horn, shows McKenzie's James Gordon getting his feet underneath him in the city of Gotham and quickly lays the groundwork for the plot the series will follow. Much of the main cast makes an appearance, including a young Selina Kyle, Bruce Wayne - who witnesses his parents' death in the trailer, Harvey Bullock, Oswald Cobblepot and Fish Mooney.

The release of the trailer comes on the same day that Fox officially announced Gotham got a series order for the fall. The show was widely expected to get picked up anyway due to the hefty penalty the network would have to pay otherwise.

No premiere date has been announced yet, only that the 13-episode series will debut in the fall.
