It was recently announced that actor Charlie Cox would be playing the lead role in the Netflix series Daredevil.

According to The Guardian, Netflix and Marvel are working together to create different television series’ with characters being featured Marvel’s comic books. Daredevil is the first series to be in the works.

Ben Affleck starred in a 2003 movie as Daredevil, but the movie was not received very well. Cox’s role in Stardust was followed by minor roles before he joined HBO’s Boardwalk Empire as Owen Slater.

The Hollywood Reporter reported Daredevil is set to have 13 episodes. Cox’s character Matt Murdock fights crime at night while during the day, he is a lawyer who is also blind.

Steven S. DeKnight has reportedly replaced Drew Goddard in running the show, even though Goddard will continue to be an executive producer.

In addition to Daredevil, other Marvel series’ in the works include Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders.

Variety reported The Defenders would be a Netflix miniseries that would see all four characters coming together.

Marvel also continues working with ABC, with the television show Agents of SHIELD being renewed and adding midseason show Agent Carter, which is a spinoff of Captain America.
