Brad Pitt was at the Hollywood premiere of Maleficent, starring his partner Angelina Jolie, when he was attacked the infamous Ukrainian prankster Vitalii Sediuk Wednesday.
Witnesses saw Sediuk hop over a barrier at the premiere, and rush over to Pitt. He managed to reach Pitt and punch him. Sediuk was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery with a bail of $20,000.
The Indepent The Independent reports that a spokesperson for the film said, “This was an unfortunate and inappropriate incident that is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.”
Security guards wrestled the man away and called police. LAPD Sergeant Leonard Calderon told Reuters, Reuters “The officers who were handling him said it looked like it was intentional, but at this point, it remains to be determined.”
Pitt and Jolie continued greeting fans and walked into the theatre, seemingly unfazed.
25-year-old Vitalii Sediuk has quite the history of causing trouble at red carpet events. In 2012, he was slapped by actor Will Smith after he attempted to kiss Smith. He’s also pranked Leonardo DiCaprio. Most recently, he crawled under America Ferrera’s dress at the Cannes premiere of How To Train Your Dragon 2 last week.
